Shema tallis

Five lines of curling vines form a musical staff on which mikania ternata leaves congregate as music notes to form the nusach [liturgical melody] for the Shabbat morning Shema.

The Shema is considered to be the central declaration of faith in Judaism. The six simple words are put to many different tunes for different occasions. This tallis was designed for a loved one who wears many hats, among which are barbershop quartet singer and shaliach tzibbur [congregational prayer leader].

The vines on this tallis are modeled after the mikania ternata plant, commonly known as ‘plushvine’ or ‘purple pleasure’.
